Tap Dungeon Alchemist Class Guide
Concoct arcane potions. Make beggars and loot popups work for the floor lord.
Alchemist is the fourth official sentence: concocts arcane potions. It is a full-version class. The demo does not list it beside Warrior and Assassin. If you are still on two floors and difficulty one, this page is homework for after purchase. Confirm the slice on the demo notes.
Official fantasy
Potions. Arcane concoctions. A combat style that should feel like a laboratory, not a sword swing. Mixing remains legal, which is how Alchemists pick up a Swordsman’s entire crush kit and then never drink anything. Your job sentence: the bag of bottles is the build. Relics and skills exist to make those bottles matter on the tile that actually threatens the run.
Xiao5 has not published a public English recipe list. We will not invent reagent names. Official footage already shows the toys you will live with: potion loot popups, beggar donations that return bottles, an inventory grid, and event costs in HP and gold. The artifact page is your textbook.
How an Alchemist should tap
Take trades that generate potions when the HP bar can afford them. Skip trades that only generate keys you cannot spend. Use bottles on the floor lord and on a planned hidden boss, not on the first forest snake. If the loot window says take all versus skip, skip when the grid is already a junk museum.
Gold is reagent money, not a high score. A shopkeeper who offers no charity — as one launch-week report claimed after a gold counter exploded — is a reminder to keep a buffer. Do not donate your last coins to a beggar because the class fantasy said “be generous.” Generous is a flavour. Solvent is a build.
Events are your combat
Other classes treat events as tax. Alchemist treats some of them as the point. That is a trap if you treat all of them as the point. The meat pit still subtracts 30 HP in the filmed tooltip. A dead Alchemist concocts nothing. Read how to play so the HUD’s gold and HP sit in the same mental account. Route with the dungeon guide so you still kill the lord that opens the next region.
Mixing with siblings
- Swordsman is a backup hit if a bottle needs time.
- Assassin is a finisher, not a second protagonist.
- Mage shares the “I would rather not stand in melee” mood. Do not run two full caster identities.
- Guardian is what you wanted if every concoction still dies to a tooltip.
Sub-classes in the paid build should multiply potions, trades, or weird damage-over-time. A sub-class that wants you to ignore the bag is a dual kit. The build guide exists to stop dual kits.
Who should pick Alchemist
Pick it when you own the full game and you actually enjoy reading event columns. Skip it if you mash. Skip it on the demo. The class picker sends you here when you answer “potions and trades.” The tier list will argue about power later. Launch week, Alchemist is the class that makes the trailer’s beggar and loot popup feel like the game instead of a sideshow.
Starter builds has a skeleton. Getting started still applies: yellow text is not flavour. If you came from a how-to-play Alchemist search, the answer is “make the bottles pay rent on the lord, then hunt secrets.” Everything else is a junk drawer with a mortar and pestle drawn on it.
What a good Alchemist inventory looks like
A small gold buffer, a potion stack you can explain, and at most one weird relic that makes those potions meaner. Not four keys. Not a crush kit you never swing. Not a bombard identity you never cast. If the grid is full and you cannot name the job of each square, sell or skip until you can. The beggar in official footage is a teacher, not a roommate. Pay him when the return is a bottle you will drink on the lord. Walk away when the return is flavour. Links is where you report a gold counter that forgot how integers work. This page is where you keep integers in the first place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Launch-week answers for new adventurers from the Duchy of Lyle.
Is Alchemist in the demo?
No. Demo classes are Warrior and unlockable Assassin. Alchemist is a full-version role.
Should Alchemist donate to every beggar?
Only when the HP and gold buffers survive the donation. Potions are not worth a wipe. See artifacts.
What should I read next?
Do concoctions replace the floor lord fight?
No. The next region still wants the lord dead. Bottles are how you arrive alive. See dungeons.
