Tap Dungeon Classes Hub

Five official roles, free mixing, and a demo that only trains two of them.

Classes Hub

Tap Dungeon’s roster is small on purpose. Xiao5 Studios lists five classes on Steam: Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian. The demo’s English post also calls the default melee role Warrior. Each class is sold with a one-line combat fantasy, then the game lets you mix skills, items, and sub-classes without hard locks. This hub is the roster map. Individual pages go deeper. The class picker is the 30-second version. The tier list is the launch-week ranking, not a law.

The five official sentences

Those adjectives are store copy. They are also the job sentences the build guide asks you to pick before you pick relics. If your bag of artifacts argues with the adjective, you are playing a different class with extra steps.

Demo roster versus full roster

The free demo includes the first two dungeon floors, difficulty one, no talent system, and two playable classes: Warrior (default) and Assassin (unlockable). Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian are full-version roles. If you bounced off the preview because “there are only two classes,” you reviewed a slice. Details live on the demo page.

Sub-classes are advertised for the paid build as part of the mix-and-match fantasy. Xiao5 has not posted a public English list of every sub-class name in the store description we used. Do not expect this hub to invent a 40-row subclass table. When names are public, they will land on updates and then on the class pages.

How to choose without a spreadsheet

Ask four questions:

  1. Do I own the full game or the demo? Demo players should stay on Swordsman/Warrior or Assassin.
  2. Do I want to hit, delete, bombard, brew, or endure? That maps 1:1 to the five pages.
  3. Can I read an event tooltip without tapping it out of boredom? If no, start Guardian or Swordsman. Getting started is the event lecture.
  4. Am I hunting hidden bosses tonight? Then you need leftover HP, which is a Guardian or potion-aware Alchemist problem as much as a DPS problem.

The starter builds page turns those answers into skeletons. This hub stays on identity.

Steam’s text says mix skills, items, and sub-classes freely — imagination is the only limit. Launch-week deaths say otherwise. Armor-brick enemies do not care that your Assassin is holding a novelty staff. Read how to play for the HUD, then stack narrowly. Each class page repeats the same warning in a different costume so you cannot miss it.

Where classes meet the dungeon

The card maze does not change because you swapped a coat. Forest, swamp, snow, desert, and ruined cities still tax HP through events. Class only changes which tiles you can afford to tap. A Mage who walks into every melee event is a Swordsman with worse armor. A Guardian who refuses every gold pit will see more of the dungeon than a greedy Assassin who paid 30 HP for coins.

After you pick

Open the matching class page, then the build guide. If the run dies in a way that felt like the game rather than your bag, read the review. If the run dies because the demo omitted a system, read launch notes. Studio links sit on links.

This roster is small enough to learn. That is the point. Five fantasies, infinite junk drawers, one floor lord who does not care about your fashion.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Launch-week answers for new adventurers from the Duchy of Lyle.

How many classes are in Tap Dungeon?

Five in the full Steam build: Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, Guardian. The demo trains Warrior and Assassin only.

Is Warrior different from Swordsman?

The demo post says Warrior; the store page says Swordsman. Treat them as the default heavy-blade role unless a patch splits them.

Which class is best?

Launch week has no frozen meta. Use the tier list as a role reading and the class picker for a fast decision.

Can I change class mid-run?

Rebirth is the advertised reset. Do not expect an in-floor respec the store never promised. Plan on the builds page before you tap the first card.
