Tap Dungeon 28 August Depot Update
Steam shipped a new public build the day after launch. Xiao5 has not posted English notes we can quote.
Tap Dungeon launched on Steam on 27 August 2026. Public depot data then moved. SteamDB listed public branch build 24994093, time-built 28 August 2026 at 14:02 UTC and last updated 15:23 UTC the same day. That is a real files change. It is not a named patch. This page exists so you stop calling a silent depot bump a “1.0.1 we forgot to announce.” Parent hub: updates. Launch snapshot: launch notes.
What we can state
- The paid Windows build (app 4676750) is live. Family Sharing is listed now that the game is released.
- The public depot is about 419 MB on disk and 308 MB download in the snapshot we used.
- Executable name remains
CubeDungenSource.exe. - Steam Cloud remains on. Saves still sit under
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/EZMode\CubeDungenSourceuntil a news post says otherwise. - Xiao5 has not published an English bullet list for build 24994093 on the news hub we fetched. Absence of notes is not proof the build was empty. Absence of notes is proof we will not guess the diff.
If Steam later posts “fixed gold counter” or “translation pass,” it will be quoted here with a date. Until then, treat player reports as reports.
What launch-week players already reported
Steam discussions before and around launch mentioned:
- Awkward translation.
- At least one gold-related passive that sent the counter into scientific notation, after which a shopkeeper offered no charity.
- Enemies with huge armor values that ignored a 30-damage skill.
Those are not official patch notes. They are the reason you should screenshot a broken wallet, verify the build number in Steam, and post on the hub or Discord. The review keeps the tone. Combat tells you to stop proving a brick. This page tells you a depot moved even if the news feed did not.
How to check you are on the new files
In Steam: library → Tap Dungeon → Properties → Updates, or the download cache / installed build if you use SteamDB / Steam’s console. Let the client finish the 28 August bump before you file a “still broken” report from an old depot. Cloud should restore a legitimate LocalLow folder on another PC signed into the same account. Do not share a “god save.”
If the game will not launch after the bump, that is a system requirements problem or a Visual C++ / driver problem, not a missing talent tree. Try the demo only as a spec test; the demo is a different app ID (4715120).
What the official news did say
The store news hub advertised the launch itself: Tap Dungeon is out, launch discount $3.99 (list $4.99) through 10 September 2026. That post is gratitude and a price, not a changelog. Developer broadcasts (“Watch the developer play”) were live on the store page during launch week. Broadcasts are not patch notes either. They are a cursor you can watch if you want to see the HUD without inventing binds. Controls stay mouse-first until a bind screen exists.
Review band after the bump
By 29 August 2026 public recaps sat around 85% positive on roughly 80 reviews, still in Very Positive territory, with a SteamDB mixed-formula rating lower than the raw store percentage. Concurrent players were in the low hundreds with a launch-day peak near 500. That is a healthy indie open. It is not a reason to freeze the tier list. Letters move when talents get names, not when a silent depot ships.
Steam Deck and Proton
The store still listed Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown in the snapshot we used. A depot bump does not mint a verified badge. Deck users should test Proton themselves and keep refund windows in mind. We will not invent a “perfect on Deck” line.
After you update
Play a floor. If the gold pit still prints a sane integer, you are in the same game the getting started page described. If the integer explodes, report it with the build number. Studio doors: links. This hotfix page will grow bullets when Xiao5 writes them. Until then, the honest headline is: files moved on 28 August 2026; the card maze did not publish its diary.
