Tap Dungeon Demo versus Full Version

Two floors and two classes is a taste, not the roster you paid for.

Tap Dungeon Demo vs Full

Xiao5 Studios posted the Tap Dungeon demo to Steam before launch (app 4715120). The post is unusually clear, which is why this page can be unusually clear. Parent hub: updates. The paid launch itself is launch notes.

What the demo includes

  • The first two dungeon floors.
  • Two playable classes: Warrior (default) and Assassin (unlockable).
  • Difficulty level 1 only.
  • No talent system.

That is the studio list, not a fan guess. Combat is still the turn-based card maze. Events still tax HP and gold. Death is still a rebirth. You can still learn the HUD with how to play and the first-hour manners with getting started.

What the full version adds

The same post promised:

  • A full multi-floor dungeon with richer random generation.
  • More class choices (the store’s five: Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, Guardian).
  • Multiple difficulty challenges.
  • The full talent system.
  • More enemies, events, skills, and equipment.

If you bounced off the demo because “content is thin,” you reviewed the slice they warned you about. Read the class hub before you write that Mage does not exist.

How to play the demo without learning bad habits

Use Honest Steel or Door Opener from starter builds. Do not invent a talent plan. Do not hunt a 12-class roster. Do not judge hidden-boss density on two floors. Do treat every yellow tooltip as real — that lesson transfers. Artifacts and dungeons remain true.

If Assassin’s unlock feels gated, that is the demo teaching you to finish a floor. Warrior/Swordsman is the teacher class; details on the Swordsman page.

When to buy

Buy if the card maze clicked and you want the three missing classes, talents, and extra difficulties. Stay on the demo if you only wanted to know whether the title was an idle tapper (it is not). The review is the store-tab version of that advice. Price at launch was a few dollars with an intro cut; confirm the live Steam number before you quote us in a year.

After you buy

Ignore demo muscle memory that says “there is no talent screen.” Open the full UI. Re-pick with the class picker if you want Mage, Alchemist, or Guardian. Recheck the tier list as wet paint. Then kill a floor lord on purpose. The demo’s job is done the moment you stop expecting it to be the game.

Sibling page: launch notes. Studio URLs: links. If this page and a Steam news post ever disagree, believe Steam.

The demo is also the right place to test whether you even like card mazes. If two floors feel like homework, the full talent tree will not magically turn the title into an idle tapper. If two floors feel like a board game you want to shuffle again, the paid roster is the expansion pack the studio already described. Either outcome is useful. The useless outcome is writing a full-game review from a preview that listed its own missing pieces in bullet points. Two floors are a sample size, not a verdict, and the studio already told you which pieces were missing from the preview on purpose.

Hardware and language on the preview

Use the demo as a spec test. Official minimums on the system requirements page are modest, but a business laptop from 2012 still deserves a free trial before a refund argument. If event paintings hitch, the full biomes will not be lighter. If the UI language is a mix you did not ask for, fix it in Steam properties — twelve interface languages shipped, and launch-week comments already grumbled about translation. That is a text problem you can sample for free. Then decide with launch notes in the other tab, not with a mobile idle game that shares the English title.
