Tap Dungeon Class Tier List (Launch Week)
Five roles, two of them demo-legal, none of them proven by a month of patches.
This is the class ranking page promised by the tier list hub. It is dated to launch week on purpose. If you need kits, use starter builds. If you need flavour, use the class hub.
S — Swordsman / Warrior
Default melee. Demo-legal. Official job: crush with heavy blades. It is S because it teaches the game, not because it will own a tournament that does not exist. You can finish a floor, learn the filmed events, and still have a job sentence when armor gets rude. Play notes live on the Swordsman page.
Demote it in your head once you personally clear lords without thinking. Until then, stop looking for a secret main.
A — Guardian
Full-version wall. Official job: unbreakable. Ranked A because launch-week deaths are event deaths and armor deaths, both of which a patient HP bar survives long enough to study. It is not S because the demo cannot confirm the kit and because walls feel slow. Play notes: Guardian.
If you own only the preview, this rank is a wishlist. Do not review the game as “no tank” because the slice omitted it.
A- — Assassin
Demo unlock. Official job: strike from the shadows. High ceiling, low patience. Ranked just under Guardian because the same player who searches a tier list is often the player who taps the meat pit. Burst that arrives at the lord with 12 HP is a skill issue the rank is allowed to notice. Play notes: Assassin.
If you already treat yellow text as law, mentally bump this to S and ignore anyone who tells you to play a wall.
B+ — Alchemist
Full-version potions. Official job: concoct. Ranked here because the trailer’s economy — beggars, potion popups, gold pits — is the class, and because mashers will hate it. When events pay rent, Alchemist climbs. When they do not, it is a bag of bottles next to a floor lord. Play notes: Alchemist.
B — Mage
Full-version range. Official job: bombard from afar. Ranked lowest among the five only because evidence is thinnest, not because bombard is weak on paper. The maze still charges melee-shaped event taxes. Until more paid-build reports exist, Mage is “promising, unproven.” Play notes: Mage.
If your first paid-build floor as Mage feels like a god, believe your floor, not this letter. Then write it down and compare to builds.
What would move a rank
- An English talent tree that massively buffs one job.
- A hotfix to armor-brick rooms.
- Named hidden bosses that require a specific class.
- Demo players getting Mage somehow — they will not, per the studio demo post.
Those belong on updates. This page will not auto-promote anyone because a Discord message yelled.
How to read letters without becoming a tourist
Pick Swordsman to learn. Pick Assassin to test burst in the demo. Pick Guardian, Alchemist, or Mage because you bought the full roster and the fantasy matches. Then go back to how to play and dungeons. A tier list that keeps you on the select screen for an hour has failed. The class picker exists to end the hour.
Sibling page: starter builds. Parent: tier list hub. That is the whole rank conversation until the first real patch.
Demo ranks versus paid ranks
If you only own the preview, the usable ladder is Swordsman then Assassin. Guardian, Alchemist, and Mage are letters on a wishlist. Do not argue “the tank is overrated” from a build that cannot select it. Do not argue “Mage is trash” from a two-floor slice. The demo notes already told you which pieces were missing. This ranking page still prints the five letters so paid-build players have a starting argument. It will look silly after the first talent hotfix. That is the correct amount of confidence for a game that launched this week. Play a floor, then disagree with a screenshot, not with a feeling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Launch-week answers for new adventurers from the Duchy of Lyle.
Why is Swordsman above Mage?
Evidence and demo access, not a damage formula we invented. Mage is unproven in the two-floor preview.
Will this Tap Dungeon tier list change?
Yes, after talents, difficulties, and hotfixes. Watch updates.
Where are the build details for each rank?
On starter builds and the matching class pages.
Is Guardian really A without demo proof?
It is a cautious A based on the official unbreakable job plus launch-week event deaths. Treat it as a paid-build hypothesis.
