Tap Dungeon Launch Notes

Tap Dungeon launched on Steam on 27 August 2026. Xiao5 Studios is both developer and publisher. The store app ID is 4676750. This page is the launch snapshot. The two-floor preview has its own write-up on demo notes. Parent hub: updates.

Price and platforms

Windows only on Steam at launch. List price $4.99. Introductory offer $3.99 advertised through 10 September 2026. Single-player only. No Roblox version. Bundles with other dungeon titles appeared on the store the same week; they are optional and not required to play.

If your hardware is in doubt, read system requirements before you argue with a refund timer. Official minimums are Windows 10, i3-3220 or FX-4100, 2 GB RAM, GTX 650 or HD 5770, 1 GB disk. SteamDB listed a depot around 419 MB on disk and 308 MB download.

Systems that shipped

  • Five classes: Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, Guardian. See the class hub.
  • Turn-based combat on random card mazes. See how to play.
  • Biomes named on the store: forests, swamps, snowy plains, deserts, abandoned ancient cities. See dungeons.
  • Artifacts, hidden bosses, sub-class mixing, talent system, multiple difficulties — all advertised for the full build.
  • 33 Steam achievements and Steam Cloud.
  • Controller tag wizard flagged; footage remains cursor-heavy.

What launch week felt like

The first review band sat Very Positive. By 29 August 2026 public recaps were about 85 percent positive on roughly 80 reviews, with a launch-day concurrent peak near 500. That is still Very Positive, not a frozen meta. A silent public depot bump (build 24994093) landed on 28 August — details on the depot page. Concurrent players peaked in the hundreds on release day according to public SteamDB charts. That is a healthy indie open, not a live-service explosion.

Player comments already flagged rough translation and at least one gold-display bug. The store itself discloses that some artwork used Stable Diffusion. None of those facts make the loop fake. They do mean you should keep Steam news and Discord bookmarked. The review is the prose version of this paragraph.

How launch changes your first hour

You can stop living inside the demo’s two-class cage. Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian are legal. Talents exist as a layer the preview omitted. Extra difficulties exist as a layer the preview omitted. That does not make the filmed gold pit cheaper. Getting started still starts with tooltips. Builds still starts with a job sentence. The tier list is still wet paint.

Save path and cloud

Steam Cloud is on. Local files were configured under %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/EZMode\CubeDungenSource. If a hotfix moves that path, it will be noted here. Do not delete that folder because the executable is named CubeDungenSource.exe — that is the shipped binary name, not a fake copy.

What happens next on this page

Dated hotfix bullets when Xiao5 posts them. No invented 1.0.1. If you need studio URLs, use links. If you need to play, pick a class with the class picker and tap a card. Launch week is for floors, not for waiting on a patch that may already be cooking.

If you are reading this a month later, check the date on the Steam news feed before you quote the intro price or the first review band as current. Launch snapshots rot. The card maze does not. The five classes do not. The fact that death is a rebirth does not. Treat everything else — talent names, hidden-boss names, hotfix IDs — as pending until Xiao5 writes them down.

What “Very Positive” should mean to you

Public recaps in the first days sat near 88 percent of a small sample — dozens of reviews, not thousands. That is a good indie open and a terrible sample for a frozen meta. Use it as “people who bought the card maze mostly liked the card maze,” not as “Swordsman is S forever.” Concurrent players peaked in the hundreds on release day. Play a floor. If the loop clicks, the review band is a bonus. If the loop feels like homework, no percentage will save the weekend. The review is the prose version; this page is the dated receipt.
