Tap Dungeon Assassin Class Guide
Strike from the shadows. Spend HP on kills, not on novelty keys.
Assassin is the second sentence on the Steam page: strike from the shadows. In the demo it is the unlockable class beside default Warrior. That already tells you Xiao5 thinks burst is a reward, not a babysitter. Play it after you understand event tooltips, or you will spend your shadow window on a meat pit. Start with Swordsman if the maze still looks like noise. Keep how to play open for the HUD.
Official fantasy
Shadows. A strike. A combat style that is not a heavy blade, not a far bombard, not a potion belt, not a shield wall. Mixing is still allowed. Mixing is how Assassins pick up a Guardian’s entire bag and then wonder why they no longer delete tiles.
Your job sentence: one target stops existing. Everything in the inventory should shorten that sentence. Keys, beggars, and gold pits lengthen it by stealing HP you needed for the window.
Demo unlock, not a full kit
The preview offers Assassin as unlockable on difficulty one with no talent system. Treat the demo Assassin as a test of whether burst feels good in the card maze, not as a verdict on the full-version talent layer. If unlocking it is a chore, that is the demo teaching you to finish a floor. The demo notes list the rest of the missing systems.
How an Assassin should tap a floor
Scan the card grid for isolated monster tiles you can delete. Avoid ringing three elites because a chest sits behind them. Take events only when the cost does not eat the next window. Potions are for the floor lord and for a hidden boss you actually planned, not for recovering from a silver key. The dungeon guide is routing. You are the scalpel.
If a tile does not die, do not keep proving it. Armor-brick rooms punish burst classes first because their whole identity was the first two skills. Rebirth and add a support mix from the build guide. Cycling the whole 1–7 strip is a Swordsman habit. Steal that habit only when the window failed.
Mixing with siblings
- Swordsman hits as a backup identity. One heavy tool is a finisher. A second crush kit is a different run.
- Mage range can open a window from farther away. Do not become a bombard player who still dresses like a knife.
- Alchemist potions keep the HP bar honest.
- Guardian bulk is the opposite fantasy. If you keep wanting it, play Guardian.
Sub-classes in the paid build should hide, open, or finish. A sub-class that wants you to tank events is a mixed message.
Who should pick Assassin
Pick it if you already like deleting one problem and leaving the rest of the board alone. Pick it in the demo once Warrior has taught you that yellow text is not flavour. Skip it if you tap every pedestal. Assassin is the class that most looks like a speedrunner and most dies like a tourist.
The class picker will push you here when you answer “burst.” The tier list may love or hate the role after more data. Launch week, Assassin is high skill ceiling, low event patience. Read starter builds for a skeleton that does not include a key museum.
Shadows are a resource. Spend them on tiles that fight back.
A night you should abandon
If the first two events already cost a third of the bar and you have not deleted a monster tile, the run is teaching you, not testing your burst. Rebirth. Honest Steel on Swordsman is allowed after an Assassin night that only produced keys. The class is not a personality. It is a window. When the window is gone, the starter builds page still has Door Opener for the next attempt, and the review will not judge you for swapping coats. What it will judge is tapping a silver key because the pixel art looked rare. Rare is not damage. Damage is the job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Launch-week answers for new adventurers from the Duchy of Lyle.
How do I unlock Assassin?
In the demo it is listed as unlockable beside default Warrior. The studio post does not spell a public puzzle beyond playing the slice. The full version includes the class in the five-role roster.
Is Assassin good for hidden bosses?
Only if you still have a window and potions. Otherwise the secret fight is a brick. See hidden bosses.
Should Assassin take gold pits?
Usually no. HP is the window. Coins are a shop maybe. Read artifacts.
