Tap Dungeon Mage Class Guide

Bombard from afar. The card maze still charges HP for greedy taps.

Tap Dungeon Mage Class

Mage is the third official sentence: bombard from afar. It is not in the demo’s two-class list. If you are still on the free preview, this page is a shopping list for the paid build, not a kit you can test tonight. Warrior and Assassin are the slice. Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian are the rest of the roster. Confirm that on the demo page before you refund in confusion.

Official fantasy

Range. Bombard. A style that is supposed to feel nothing like a heavy blade. Mixing is still free, which is how Mages pick up a Swordsman’s entire identity and then die in a melee event they did not need. Your job sentence: tiles suffer while you stay out of the stupid trades.

There is no public English grimoire of named spells in the store copy. We will not invent Fireball ranks. Play the HUD you have: numbered skills, resource bar, potions, events. If a skill does not bombard, it is a support or it is clutter. The build guide is the clutter lecture.

How a Mage should see the maze

The card grid in official footage is full of melee-looking monster art. Range does not mean those tiles are free. It means you should prefer fights you can start on your terms and skip events that shove you into a pit of meat. Forest forks still want a floor lord dead. Swamp, snow, desert, and ruined cities still exist. Read the dungeon guide.

Potions are not an Alchemist-only toy. They are how a bombard kit survives a mis-tap. Beggars and gold pits still subtract the HP you needed to cast. Artifacts that ask you to stand in melee for a key are jokes aimed at you specifically.

Armor bricks and range

Launch-week comments about 999 armor are a Mage problem too. Bombard that does not land is just pretty lights. If the number does not move, stop proving it. Mix a support that is not “more of the same bolt,” or rebirth. How to play covers the strip. Hidden hunts wait until the lord is down and the bar is not a sliver — hidden bosses.

Mixing with siblings

  • Swordsman is the emergency melee button, not your new personality.
  • Assassin is a second burst identity. One finisher is enough.
  • Alchemist is the potion cousin. Sharing trades does not mean sharing the whole kit.
  • Guardian is what you play if bombard still dies to tooltips.

Sub-classes in the full version should extend range, resource, or control. A sub-class that wants you to crush is a dual kit. Dual kits feed floor lords.

Who should pick Mage

Pick it when you own the full game and you like planning a turn around space. Skip it on the demo. Skip it if you tap every pedestal. Mage is not a licence to ignore yellow text. The class picker sends you here when you answer “range.” The tier list will argue later. Launch week, Mage is a full-version reason to buy past the two-floor slice.

If you came from a search for how to play Mage, the answer is the same as every other class plus distance: read costs, bombard the lord, leave the meat pit alone. Starter builds has a skeleton. Getting started has the event manners you still need.

Afar is a luxury. Greedy taps cancel it.

After you buy past the demo

Open the full roster, pick Mage on purpose, and play one floor that refuses every HP-for-gold trade. If that floor feels empty, you wanted events, not range — try Alchemist. If it feels like the game finally matches the store sentence, stay. Then and only then mix a single melee panic button. The launch notes exist so you stop judging bombard from a preview that never offered it. Hardware doubts belong on system requirements, not on this class page. Mage does not need a better GPU. Mage needs unread tooltips to stay unread.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Launch-week answers for new adventurers from the Duchy of Lyle.

Is Mage in the Tap Dungeon demo?

No. The demo lists Warrior and unlockable Assassin. Mage is part of the full five-class roster.

Does Mage ignore event HP costs?

No. Events tax the same bar. Range does not pay your gold pit. See artifacts.

What should I read next?

Alchemist if you like resources, Assassin if you like burst, and the build guide either way.

Is Mage the best class?

Unknown in launch week. Use the tier list as an opinion, not a patch.
